Authentic Pakistani Nihari Recipe

Nihari is a traditional Pakistani slow-cooked stew known for its rich gravy, deep spices, and tender meat. Commonly enjoyed for breakfast or special occasions, this authentic Nihari recipe delivers bold flavor and comforting warmth.

Ingredients

  • Beef or mutton (with bone)

  • Cooking oil

  • Ginger-garlic paste

  • Nihari masala

  • Wheat flour

  • Salt to taste

  • Water

Method

  1. Heat oil in a heavy-bottom pot and sauté ginger-garlic paste until fragrant.

  2. Add meat and cook until lightly browned.

  3. Add Nihari masala and salt, mix well.

  4. Pour in water, cover, and simmer on low heat for 4–5 hours until meat is tender.

  5. Mix wheat flour with water to make a slurry and add slowly to thicken the gravy.

  6. Cook until desired consistency is achieved.

  7. Garnish with ginger, coriander, and lemon. Serve hot with naan.
